A dense stack of papers wrapped in plastic, fully one foot thick, was sitting outside my office today when I came in: newly arrived copy-editor's mark-ups, proofs, and a copy, for Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics: An Introduction, due out later this summer with CUP. I know what I'll be doing the next several days. But how painful. And will it seem good? Or does it matter how it seems? (Fool for a patient!)
The problem in writing a book: you needed the understanding at the beginning, which you only have at the end.
